Major Lazer’s ‘Cold Water’ tops Spotify’s Global chart after 4 days
In a recent Facebook post, Major Lazer announced that their new track, “Cold Water,” which features Justin Bieber and MØ, has charted as the #1 streamed song on Spotify only four days after it was released. To put it in perspective, the group’s massively popular track “Lean On” — which was declared the most-streamed Spotify song of all-time — took three months to reach that same spot.
In the post, Major Lazer says, “Underground sound goes all the way up!,” which caused quite a bit of confusion among fans. While the track is irrefutably not underground — with its star-studded Bieber feature and production credits from Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco — the group is likely referring to the song’s dancehall elements, and the fact that it was released independently.
