Bassnectar’s ‘Timestretch’ played during the Olympics

The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio are in full swing, and not without its fair share of surprises. Bassnectar received one such surprise this week when he discovered his track “Timestretch” was played during the opening ceremony for the USA Swimming Trials.

The roaring composition — a cinematic dubstep number taken from his 2010 EP of the same name — provides the soundtrack for an expansive light show over the Olympic pool. It’s an engrossing combination, and was undoubtedly a special treat for any electronic fans in the audience. The track was notably followed by another nod to dubstep with PsoGnar & Teminite’s 2014 collab “On My Way.”

Bassnectar shared the video, commenting: “Awesome: Timestretch was used in the opening ceremony for the USA 2016 Olympic Trials :)”
