The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ has topped Billboard’s Hot 100

The Chainsmokers continue to break ground with their blockbuster single, “Closer.” The Halsey-assisted crossover record has just been named the #1 song on Billboard’s weekly Hot 100 chart, which measures radio play, online streaming, and sales.

The ranking marks the first #1 for both artists, and is backed by a second consecutive week at the #1 spot on the Digital Songs chart, and a fresh #1 atop the Streaming Songs chart. For reference, The Chainsmokers’ breakout hit “#Selfie” peaked at just 16 on the Hot 100 Chart.

It’s a milestone achievement for the pair, and a testament to the truly remarkable success of The Chainsmokers’ sound, which has managed to allure both electronic and pop fans alike. The news comes on the heels of Halsey and The Chainsmokers’ live performance of “Closer” from a sold-out Madison Square Garden, which saw Drew Taggart of the dance duo sing vocals on the track for the first time in a live setting.

The Chainsmokers are also the first duo to top the Hot 100 since Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in 2013 with “Thrift Shop.” Listen to “Closer” below:
