Watch the trailer for new EDM TV series ‘Momentum’
With electronic music dominating the charts and continuously furthering its influence upon American culture, the genre’s dramatization in film has become a logical development. The first major attempt at this feat, 2015’s We Are Your Friends starring Zac Efron, turned out to be a notorious flop. However, that hasn’t deterred other filmmakers from tackling the topic, as Netflix recently debuted its own feature-length entry, XOXO. This fall, electronic music will receive its own TV series with indie production, Momentum.
In its debut trailer, the series lays out its premise: protagonist Michael Morris is a struggling young man who produces as a hobby. When one of his tracks is released to the internet without his knowledge, he’s soon caught up in a whirlwind of fame and touring. In contrast to the likes of We Are Your Friends, Momentum‘s creators seem to be committed to and invested in growing the electronic scene and making sure it’s represented authentically.
Momentum‘s first trailer is available to view above. The pilot is expected to be released this fall.
