Pioneer to release affordable new turntable
Music technology company Pioneer has announced a new turntable, the PLX-500, that will soon be joining their iconic family of products. Following the same layout as the incredibly popular PLX-1000 and building off of decades of producing high-quality equipment, the new deck delivers the warm analogue sound of vinyl for almost half the price.
Whereas one would easily pay over $1,000 for the PLX-1000, the PLX-500 will be available starting in September 2016 for under $500. Available in white or black, the PLX-500 is a direct drive turntable that Pioneer says is ready to play straight out of the box without the need for an external amplifier, thanks to the addition of a line output on the turntable itself. On top of that, it has the added benefit of a dedicated USB port that will allow vinyl-to-digital recording as well as digital scratch control.
Historically, one of the main limiting factors of entering the vinyl scene was the cost of a quality turntable. With the PLX-500, Pioneer will hopefully bring the joys of vinyl DJing into the hands of many who couldn’t afford it before.
