Sony Music UK has acquired formerly independent label Ministry of Sound Recordings, best known for releasing three #1 records in the UK – Bingo Players’ “Get Up (Rattle),” “Duke Dumont’s “Need U (100%), and Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through.” Founded in 1993 and having earned a reputation for one of the world’s most prominent dance music labels, its compilations sector and artist roster will officially go to Sony. Among Ministry of Sound’s renowned artists to join Sony’s burgeoning repertoire include London Grammar, DJ Fresh and Sigala.

“Ministry’s success story is exceptional and the acquisition is an important milestone in our growth strategy. We welcome the opportunity to further internationalise the footprint of this legendary British independent record label,” commented Edgar Berger, Chairman and CEO, International, Sony Music Entertainment.
