Baauer returns with new single ‘How Can You Tell Me When It’s Done?’ [Free Download]

In quintessential Baauer form, the young Brooklynite emerged to drop his debut record in March, Aa — a strong contender for electronic album of the year — and then essentially disappeared again. Following the usual press junket that goes along with an album release, Baauer went silent after his Essential Mix but now appears to back and bearing gifts. Following the first episode of a newly announced Beats 1 radio show, Baauer comes through with a new original piece, “How Can You Tell Me When It’s Done?,” doling out the new tune free of charge, perhaps to inform fans that Aa wasn’t all he had up his sleeve.

Joining with producer CZ on his latest, its unclear at this time if “How Can You Tell Me When It’s Done?” is a leftover from Aa, or if it is Baauer lighting the fuse on a new project. The new collaboration has the same boisterous vibe and organically experimental feel that describes Baauer’s Aa, though a new free download may also signal another record in the works from the producer. The track is signature Baauer, with snappy snares and aggressive, upbeat trap rhythms. Now, with the airwaves at his disposal, expect this new freebie to be just the tip of the iceberg.
