DA Premiere: Jeremy Olander – Taiga (Jamie Stevens Remix)

The past year has been astoundingly fruitful for Jeremy Olander. Delving into darker, hypnotic shades of progressive and techno after branching out of his Pryda Friends roots, the Swedish dance pioneer launched his very own Vivrant imprint, releasing a new Jeremy Olander EP and two Dhillon EPs in the process. He’s since toured the world spreading his new brand of sound, making waves most recently in the underground with his brief return to Suara for Talespin.

As the anniversary of Vivrant’s foundation approaches, Olander presents us with Taiga – Reimagined, a remix EP filled with re-works of his Vivrant debut Taiga executed by a handful of carefully-selected DJs. Title track remixing duties fell upon Jamie Stevens, a veteran producer hailing from Australia who’s beginning to make his mark on the scene. Having already been signed to labels such as microCastle and Bedrock, the original “Taiga” was certainly in good hands with Stevens, who added laser-sharp synthesizers into the fold to create a re-work that sounds as if it came from the future. Slightly eerie bouts of strings also make appearances in the background of Taiga, further increasing the edit’s complexity.

Steven’s version of “Taiga,” along with other re-works done by Finnebassen, Henry Saiz, and Charlie dont Surf, will be available through Beatport on September 30. Jeremy Olander has also commenced his fall tour in support of the remix EP and Vivrant’s anniversary as a label, which began in Mexico on September 1.
