Dancing Astronaut’s Top 10 Tracks of August

August marked another strong month for releases in the electronic world. Mau5trap put out 12 new tracks as part of We Are Friends Volume 5, including deadmau5’s new 10-minute progressive house masterpiece, “Saved.” Meanwhile, Griz delivered his new funk anthem “Before I Go” while Oliver Heldens debuted a refreshing dose of house music with “Flamingo.”

August was also the month of surprise collaborations. French legend and Ed Banger affiliate Mr. Oizo teamed up with Skrillex for “End of the World,” the lead single from his new album of the same name. Cashmere Cat also dropped his first album single, enlisting The Weeknd for their crossover slow jam, “Wild Love.” Meanwhile, Rezz linked up with rising Boys Noize Records artist Raito for an aggressive techno-inspired cut called “Alien.”

The biggest news of the month, however, was Porter Robinson and Madeon’s surprise collaboration “Shelter.” The pair stunned everyone by announcing a collaborative live tour and dropping their first single together, “Shelter.” The song, which features Madeon on vocals, is the kind of alluring, otherworldly pop anthem you’d expect from their respective talents, and is our selection for top track of the month.
