Gorillaz launch Instagram account and new website

Gorillaz’ fourth phase is officially underway. We’ve long been baited on by brief interview snippets and cryptic social media shots, but now it seems as though something real is about to transpire. Earlier today, the group rebranded their website, removing the various flash games in favor of their notorious “Stylo” music video featuring Bruce Willis.

Even more exciting, they’ve finally launched their Instagram account, building out a timeline that begins with their formal inception in 2000. As one Redditor pointed out, the content is almost exclusively taken from the Phase 1 era, suggesting that the group may upload new material in waves, ultimately ending in Phase 4.

Traditionally, Gorillaz have always been very active on social media right before dropping a big announcement. History would thus suggest we should be getting something official any day now.

The last Gorillaz’ album, The Fall, arrived in 2011. The new, presently untitled album, is rumored to feature collaborations with Snoop Dogg, De La Soul, Vic Mensa, Massive Attack, and Jean Michel Jarre.
