The new theme for League of Legends is being created by Zedd
League of Legends is the most popular online game in the world, bar none. Around 30 million people reportedly play the game daily. Every year, the international community gathers together for the esteemed World Championship: a five-week tournament which culminates at the Los Angeles Staples Center next week.
Ahead of the world championship, Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends, has recruited none other than Zedd to create the theme for the finale. It’s a big honor for the German stalwart, especially following Imagine Dragons’ theme contribution in 2014. The news was first discovered via League of Legends’ social channels, which shared an image of the theme’s artwork with Zedd’s logo embedded. Zedd has also confirmed the news on his Twitter, writing “9/26,” which is the expected release date of the single, which is titled “Ignite.”
This isn’t the first time Riot Games has tapped some of electronic music’s finest minds for contributions. Back in 2015, Jauz, Arty and more remixed various “Warsongs,” making their own renditions out of the popular League of Legends themes. Prior to that, in 2014, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights and others created new original songs for a character in the game.
