A-Trak – Parallel Lines feat. Phantogram (STFU Remix)

A-Trak’s “Parallel Lines,” the poppy single released with Phantogram a few months ago, has taken on a second life through the huge number of official remixes it’s generated. From MSTRKRFT to BLU J, eight producers so far have tried their hand at flipping the single, the most recent to see release being New York based duo STFU.

Abandoning the saccharine sentimentality of the original, STFU fill their rendition with crushing bass and an off-kilter, syncopated trap beat. Though the crunchy bass swells of the chorus are raucous enough to set off any dance floor, the remixers never lose sight of the melodic direction of the vocals, and the result is a true remix, one that understands its origins and interpolates them through a new and exciting context.
