Watch Eric Prydz’s ‘Opus’ performed by an orchestra

There’s a growing market for orchestral interpretations of dance and electronic hits. Back in June for instance, Scandinavian conductor Hans Ek reimagined 17 iconic electronic tracks with his ambitious orchestral album Dance Music Symphony.

More recently, Helsinki’s Philharmonic Orchestra hosted “Classical Trancelations in Concert,” bridging the gap between classical and electronic music with live symphonic covers of legendary dance tracks like Faithless’ “Insomnia” and Darude’s “Sandstorm.” One of the newer tracks to be included was Eric Prydz’s “Opus,” taken from his debut artist album of the same name. An undeniable classic in the making, “Opus” in orchestral form is everything you’d hope for, bringing out the beauty of the composition through a delicate buildup and momentous crescendo.
