9 things we learned from GRiZ’s first Reddit AMA

Saxophonic maestro and All Good Records label head GRiZ is renowned as an artist that keeps the barriers between himself and his fans minimal- he is active on most social media platforms, with one of the most-followed Snapchat accounts among DJs who use the service. It’s a bit surprising that an artist as popular and as transparent as GRiZ is only now taking to Reddit for their popular Ask Me Anything series, but the session was well worth the wait. Below are 9 things we learned about Grant Kwiecinski in his first Reddit AMA.

1. Big Grizmatik is a product of serendipity and social media

2. He doesn’t release his live edits on purpose

3. He has struggled with anxiety (and opens up about his coping mechanisms)

4. He may bring more live instrumentation to the table one day

5. He directs his own stage design and album art

6. GRiZ counts Bassnectar as one of his most influential music industry mentors

7. Although almost every track on his latest record ‘Good Will Prevail’ is a collaboration, he wrote more music on this album than on any previous release

8. He attended his favorite festival on the planet for the first time this year

9. Griz has considered signing to a major, but ultimately being an independent artist affords him more control over his product and is not something he is willing to concede
