Something is going down with Gorillaz and Soulection this weekend

Anticipation for the new Gorillaz record remains high, with two of the band’s animated aliases, Russell and Noodle, dropping teasers left and right. The band’s co-founder Damon Albarn confirmed that the feature “should be ready fairly soon,” while a new Instagram post from Noodle, the band’s cartoon guitarist, hints that “soon” may be as early as this weekend.

The post features a dripping ink sketch of the Soulection symbol, with the caption tagging the LA-based label and BBC Radio 6 host, Gilles Peterson. The show’s upcoming program is set for Saturday, October 22 from 7-9pm PDT, and may hold the next key puzzle piece for the new Gorillaz album, which is rumored to feature collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Vic Mensa.

Might it be new music? Or an interview with one of the group’s animated characters? We’ll have to wait to find out, but we can at least take solace in the fact that something is finally happening with the band.
