Mark Johns shares two tracks from her forthcoming OWSLA debut EP
Naomie Abergel has earned a reputation as one of OWSLA’s many secret weapons, thanks to her work under the Mark Johns pseudonym. Following several strong releases on Skrillex’s imprint, Abergel is finally ready to release her debut EP, Molino. Ahead of the EP’s October 28 release, the Singaporean singer/songwriter has rolled out two lead singles with visuals to introduce her latest project. Known for her polarizing covers and remix work, Abergel has shown she is ready to break the mold with her first official release, sharing “Before You,” and the EP’s titular track. Both songs are notably different than the rest of Mark Johns’ output, but simultaneously give an honest insight into her range and capability as an artist.
Touted by Skrillex as one of the music industry’s most talented up-and-coming singers, Mark Johns’ two lead tracks feature her distinct, sultry crooning as their central components, accompanied by production work from Next Wave associate Jerry Folk on “Before You.” Somber lyrics meet uplifting rhythms on both songs, previewing a release that will likely highlight a very personal space for the budding young vocalist. Watch the accompanying visuals for “Molino” and “Before You” ahead of Molino‘s official release.
