NYC to ban all-night liquor permits this NYE

Many NYC party-goers may have to cut their New Year’s Eve plans short this year. The New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA) has announced it will not be granting any all-night permits this December 31, after years of issuing a special event permit that allowed bars and clubs to sell alcohol past 4 AM.

The news may not be surprising to those who have noticed a steady decline in the number of all-night permits granted to venues in New York over the past several years. According to New York Upstate, in 2015, the aforementioned permit number number totaled 249 (down from 305 the year before). The NYSLA has not yet confirmed if the rule will apply only to New York City or to the entire state.
