Atellagali release ‘California Vibin’ featuring Silk Matthews
Just when you thought you were tired of all the songs about California, Miami-based duo Atellagali have unveiled one that’s really worth listening to. Featuring smokey smooth vocals by Silk Matthews, the tune is a satire of sorts, paralleling the indifference and sometimes outright blindness so many people choose to adopt in a world plagued by an overcoming state of materialism, a disregard of the environmental crisis, gun-violence, and more.
Sunny as a summer afternoon, the song’s upbeat, carefree vibe belies the powerful message in its lyrics, as Silk Matthews sings “Welcome to the jungle, welcome to the concrete world; look at all the plastic, suffocating boys, suffocating girls…Welcome to my city, welcome to my ‘Oh my God.’ Have you heard the radio? Baby boy just shot his pop, and I don’t know why we’re living this way, but we do.”
