Gorillaz take to OkCupid to tease possible release date of new music

Ever since the launching of a new website and Instagram account in September, Gorillaz have been surreptitiously teasing a forthcoming release. It was revealed shortly after that the album would be completed in two weeks, indicating the group is in the final phase before releasing it. The group has since teamed up with Soulection, released a visual story of vocalist and keyboardist 2D, and given their very first interview, essentially covering all the media-bases for an album releases.

That is, of course, if you overlook the most cutting edge fringe of the album release hype factor: OkCupid. The group of animated apes created a profile for their guitarist Noodle intriguingly featuring the line “Ready? 12:11 xxDA.” “DA” is likely to a reference to Damon Albarn, the former Blur frontman and one of the collaborators behind the group.

More interestingly is “12:11,” which could indicate a release date of November 12, December 11, or merely be a red herring.

Noodle’s account has since been disabled but screen grabs are available below.
