Nebbra joins Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats imprint with ‘You’ EP

2016 has been an evolutionary year for Zeds Dead. The Canadian pair of DC and Hooks not only made major moves by releasing their debut album, Northern Lights, last month, but simultaneously launched their own imprint, Deadbeats. For their first artist signing, Zeds Dead appoint future bass new-kid-on-the-block, Nebbra, to lead the way with his debut EP, You.

The EP’s title track, “You,” starts out the four-part piece with a wavering, space-aged instrumental humanized by Mike Sabath’s sultry croons. While “Fire Away” is the other vocal-assisted track of the EP, Nebbra constructs a percussion-driven arrangement to enrapture Oktavian’s deeper vocals in a dark yet dreamy atmosphere.

For the final two numbers, “Gladiator” and “On The Moon,” Nebbra takes the spotlight to let his production talents shine. “Gladiator” melds elements of glitch-hop, trap, and future bass into a colorful hybrid, while “On The Moon” swings and sways with space-aged synths and accents.

Overall, Nebbra sets the bar high for the next talent to join Zeds Dead’s developing venture.
