A benefit concert supporting Oakland’s Ghost Ship will take place in Berlin this weekend

Art is a powerful bonding agent, especially music. We experience, share, and digest it amongst each other every day, so when tragedy strikes, it leaves a gashing impact on our culture that we all feel together. Oakland’s Ghost Ship venue caught fire on December 2, claiming the lives of at least 36 artists, creatives, and party-goers. Since then, support has been pouring in from both the dance music community, and local city authorities in the Bay Area. Now, benefit efforts to support the victims are going international, with a Ghost Ship charity show taking place in Berlin this weekend.

Berlin’s Musik & Frieden venue will host the event on Friday, December 16, pairing performers back-to-back all night long, with all proceeds going to benefit the Bay Area’s Gray Area Foundation for the Arts Oakland Fire Relief Fund. Some Embers, Luz, Jamaica Suk, Kenneth Scott, Doc Sleep and more are slated to perform.

Friday, December 16 is also the venue’s anniversary, so dedicating the evening of music to Oakland’s victims with a lineup comprised of Bay Area-bred artists seems only appropriate.

You can also donate to the victim relief fund here.
