Mugisho – Milano
File this one under: ‘noise we didn’t expect from Norway.’ Leaping from seemingly out of the blue into the hands of Warner Music, Norwegian newcomer Mugisho uses his major label debut to make a very unique stamp on the electronic pop world. ‘Milano’ builds as you would expect your typical Scandinavian crossover track to – infectious vocal hooks, dialled back beats and supple melodic licks in tow. At its apex, however, ‘Milano’ is more than a soft Scandinavian tip to the fashion capital of Italy. The track’s raw, rigid and appetisingly glitchy sound is like nothing else on the electronic pop market right now, placing the mysterious Mugisho far from the safer remits of his Scandinavian pop competitors and very much on our radar for the year ahead.
