Nile Rodgers announces new Chic album for 2017
After keeping fans hanging on for nearly two years, Nile Rodgers has finally revealed release plans for a new Chic album titled It’s About Time. Originally slated for release in 2015, the album will celebrate 40 years since the band’s formation and the opening of Studio 54.
In a post to his website, Rodgers explained he also wanted to wait to release the album due to several musician deaths in 2016, like Prince and David Bowie. “In 2016, I couldn’t release an album about the joy of life in A Year of So Many Deaths,” he wrote in a statement.
Now in 2017, Rodgers will use the album to pay homage to Studio 54, which he says put the band on the international map. The release will be accompanied by a series of after parties, concerts, films, VIP packages, and more, including a “BIG SURPRISE!”
