Launchpad: 14 house and techno tracks that will get you through your week
The Launchpad is a biweekly series showcasing hot new music hand selected by our staff. The tracks in these curated playlists come from both underground and mainstream artists that we love. If you’d like to see your music featured in the Launchpad, you can submit it for consideration here.
Today the Launchpad turns its attention to the deep, brooding sounds of the underground. This fourteenth edition explores a melange of techno, deep house, industrial, and progressive techno music.
Released via Into The Wild Records a few days ago, Mahalo’s sinister remix of Zhu’s “In The Morning” might be the LA-based producer’s best remix yet. The track begins with the familiar vocals and piano chords of the original, but listeners swiftly plunge deep into the foreboding realms of intense bass growls and rhythmic percussion. The remix’s elements talk beautifully to one another creating a very cerebral yet danceable track.
SubSoul record label has a discerning taste for house music. Among the imprint’s successes is UK duo Kideko & Apres’ recent single, “Get The Funk.” Released last month, “Get The Funk” offers listeners a taste of quintessential house vocal loops, LFO-laden bass lines, and energetic cowbell sequences.
Rising Irish producer Mark Greene should be on every techno aficionado’s radar in 2017. Greene’s latest record, “Rattle,” is a menacing piece that evokes vidid warehouse sensibilities. Impressively, Carl Cox has given the track a nod by including it in his expertly-curated mixing arsenal since last August and throughout his South American tour.
