New documentary sheds light on Glasgow’s underground scene

Scotland has been a hotbed for underground raves since the scene blew up in the UK since the 1980s. Commercialism of the culture and the more stringent laws drove the scene even further into the seedy illegal space it resides now.

Vice‘s i-D Channel decided to explore this thriving, nouveau-warehouse network in a new documentary as part of its Global Street Series, which covers the revitalization of youth cultures across the world. Interviewers meet up with several organizers and participant of these illegal renegade parties to uncover why they’re making such a comeback, and what drives these “misfits” that attend to keep coming back for more despite the risks.
