Spotify offers new ‘President of Playlists’ position to Barack Obama

If Barack Obama feels the need to get back to work after serving eight years leading the United States, he now has a job waiting for him at Spotify. After joking to Sweden’s ambassador that he was patiently awaiting his job at Spotify after crafting numerous presidential playlists for the company in the past, CEO Daniel Ek took the opportunity and ran with it, creating a position fit for the soon-to-be former president.

Ek tweeted to Obama, “I heard you were interested in a role at Spotify. Have you seen this one?” and proceeded to attach a link to a brand new job opening: the President of Playlists. The job was tailor-made for American presidents, it seems, requiring applicants to have had at least “eight years experience running a highly-regarded nation” in addition to being able to “work closely with other departments, so playlists can hold up to public scrutiny.”

Given Obama’s connections in the music world which include Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and more, as well as his keen ear for putting together playlists for Spotify which he’s demonstrated in the past, we have a feeling he’d excel at the job.
