Today is deadmau5’s 36th birthday; listen to 36 of his greatest tracks [Playlist]

Today, January 5, dance music’s favorite meticulous sound engineer – and most sharp-tongued critic – turns 36 years old. Joel Zimmerman had an incredibly productive year in 2016,  from his label hitting the 100 release milestone with the coveted “Strobe” remix EP, to scoring his highest-charting track yet with the Grabbitz-assisted “Let Go.” Excitingly, it appears that deadmau5 has no intentions of slowing his output in 2017; the artist has a number of projected releases on the way, as well as plans to up the ante on his already impressive performance game by debuting the Cube 2.1 and reprising his fabled Eric Prydz partnership.

As one would expect, Zimmerman has been enjoying his successes of the past year on his own terms, offering thoughtfully-compiled performances of the music which inspires him, even if doing so inspired chagrin among some festival-goers. In honor of the mau5trap don’s 36 birthday, we’ve compiled 36 of deadmau5’s most essential tracks, ranging from his biggest hits, to his most underrated deep cuts. Listen to the playlist below.

Happy Birthday, Joel.
