INÉZ gives Roxette’s classic ‘Listen To Your Heart’ a 21st century dance pop twist
Like many of her contemporary peers, polished dance/pop newcomer INÉZ isn’t scared of fixing up a classic anthem. The Swedish newcomer debuts this month with a striking remake of native legends Roxette’s seminal hit “Listen To Your Heart,” adding to a recent surge of remakes aimed at breaching the pop/dance crossover threshold.
Polished enough for moderate club play and illuminated with the natural charm and bounce of INÉZ’s solid vocal chops, the track is immediately appetizing and inoffensive in its re-contextualization of the familiar single. No one asked for a tropical tribute to Roxette, but upon delivery, this effort is a fine first from a promising Swedish prospect with crossover appeal on the mind.
