What So Not – Jaguar (Luca Lush Lift)

What So Not surged in popularity with the release of “Jaguar” in 2014. With the track, Flume, who was still a part of the duo alongside the now-solo Emoh Instead, further bolstered his sterling reputation on his march to superstardom and put a completely new spin on what people thought trap could be. Flume, of course, left to focus on his solo career — which has turned out fairly well — while Emoh took over the What So Not moniker and established himself as a well-respected and truly formidable producer in his own right. The ubiquity of “Jaguar” during this time served as a testament to the two producers’ prodigious skills.

Given its age and pedigree, it’s a bold move to take on a remix of “Jaguar” now. Luca Lush, however, was undeterred by this fact and has delivered an astonishing take on the classic. What stands out the most is the sheer amount of elements the producer has packed into his remix, which features upwards of four disparate, crushing drops — ironic, given his choice to call the remix a “Lift.” Listeners will barely get their bearings after the first drop before another salvo of bass is unleashed upon them. Much like the original “Jaguar,” this remix may also soon launch the steadily productive and unique Luca Lush into a new sphere of visibility.
