Bassnectar and ATLiens release new collaboration on OWSLA
Recently. Bassnectar updated fans on his roadmap of plans in 2017. The post included exciting snippets regarding Bassnectar-branded events, annual philanthropy drives, and of course, handfuls of new music coming this year. Lorin’s post also mentioned an upcoming release on Skrillex‘s OWSLA imprint, which has now officially come to fruition. Linking up with ATLiens for their debut release on the LA-based label, the partnership has offered “Interlock,” a stomping bass piece woven together by distorted patois spits, designed intentionally to level festival crowds.
A masterful melange of jungle, trap, and dub influences, Bassnectar and his hooded counterparts’ new joint effort is a heavy-handed setlist weapon that complements ATLiens’ signature trap sound with quaking drum arrangements, chimes, and a disruptive half-time break Though somehow “Interlock” manages to sound like it was meant to be an OWSLA release from the start.
