The Chainsmokers surprise fans with new track from album, “The One”

The Chainsmokers are on the home stretch leading up to the release of their highly-anticipated debut album, Memories…Do Not Open, on April 7th with a nationwide arena tour to follow. While “Paris” and “Something Just Like This” are the first two singles off the LP, producers Alex Pall and Drew Taggart have decided to surprise fans with the release of the album’s lead-off track, “The One.” Surprisingly, it leans heavily in the songwriting direction and draws less from the dance sphere The Chainsmokers were born from.

Taggart takes the vocal lead on “The One” with a heavily pop-punk influenced lyrics and an uncredited female vocalist on back-up. For production, the opening minute is primarily held down by classic piano keys, but towards the end the duo craft a chilled-out arrangement of vocal chops and light percussion,  reminiscent of the duo’s older remixes of Anna of The North and Josef Salvat for long-time fans.

Stream “The One” below and you can pre-order Memories…Do Not Open here.
