Kendrick Lamar teases upcoming album with new single ‘The Heart Part 4’
‘The Heart Part 3’ came just three days before Kendrick Lamar‘s Grammy Award-winning, status quo-shifting sophomore LP, good kid, m.A.A.d city in October of 2012. Five years later, history may repeat itself as Kendrick returns with his first official release of 2017, following up on “The Heart” series with his fourth installment.
The track arrives after a rare, cryptic Instagram post from the TDE heavyweight earlier this week. Clearly designed to be a pointed message directed at the current state of affairs, K-Dot spares no subtleties with the final line of his latest offering, decreeing “y’all got till April the 7th to get y’all shit together,” priming fans for what many believe to be his long-awaited fourth studio record.
Lamar, in his signature growl, spits allegedly veiled shots at Drake and Big Sean, with much more obvious bars being dedicated to President Trump and Lamar’s position atop rap’s loftiest echelon.
The Compton-bred rap phenomenon dropped a surprise collection of b-side products last year in March, and though he’s kept busy on the festival circuit, his output has notably halted since then. Now Kendrick appears ready to deliver a new LP, and judging the precursory new single, the highly-anticipated follow up to 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly is bound to pack a sharp message as well.
