Premiere: Huxley explores melodic techno under new alias Martinet with ‘Tube’
Huxley made a powerful entrance into the melodic house and techno space this year under his new moniker Martinet, signing onto Sasha’s prolific Last Night On Earth imprint for his ethereal Terra EP.
The British producer is now returning under Martinet again, this time for a more expansive 4-track EP, titled Reversed, under his own label No Idea’s Original. After the EP’s eponymous opener, Huxley builds speed and flexes some muscle with “Tube” by immediately trapping the listener in a field of pounding percussion that leads into intriguing synth trills. Like its title, “Tube” chugs steadily along its path like an underground train until finally, it ceases into an atmospheric breakdown accented with strings before plunging back full-powered into the explosive rhythms it commenced with.
“Tube” is certainly one of the more powerful tracks on Reversed, and is built to bring momentum to any set it’s played in. Listen below:
