Watch this beautiful cover of Flume’s ‘Never Be Like You’
The true test of any great song is its ability to be translated across different genres. While Flume’s “Never Be Like You” requires no such validation at this point — a Grammy nomination should already more than suffice — it does happen to be one of the those rare electronic songs which works surprisingly well in rock form.
Sydney band Polish Club recently reinterpreted the Platinum single for Triple J’s cover series ‘Like A Version.’ The two-piece band draw out the raw emotional candor of the lyrics — perhaps to an even greater degree than the original itself. It’s one of those sublime covers that doesn’t just acknowledge the original, but completely recontextualizes it into something irrefutably fresh.
