The Hot 25: April 28, 2017

The Hot 25 is the definitive playlist series running through dance music culture and hand-delivering you with the essential tracks of the week. Whether it’s the hottest or quickest trending tracks, brand new music from your favorite artists, or songs from the unknown that should be landing on your radar, Dancing Astronaut brings you 25 carefully selected records that reflect what’s happening in our world.

This week’s playlist features highly-anticipated album releases from Cashmere Cat and Gorillaz; chilled-out favorites from Kygo, ODESZA, and Jerry Folk; and new heat from Whethan, Illenium, and Jason Ross.

Additionally, we’ve provided our top picks from within The DA Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.

The Heat of the Week: Gorillaz – She’s My Collar (feat. Kali Uchis)

It would have been difficult to not choose a Gorillaz track as the heat of the week. “She’s My Collar” holds a nostalgic vibe reminiscent of the band’s signature sound and Kali Uchis provides the perfect counterpart.

The Breakout Select: ODESZA – Late Night

While ODESZA came out with their first track in two years with “Line of Sight,” “Late Night” came out hours later and arguably sounds more like old school ODESZA than its predecessor. Lead by a grungy bass guitar line, starry synth trickles, and atmospheric vocalizations, “Late Night” gives ODESZA fans hope for what’s to come on their third studio album.

Tune in each Friday, exclusively on Spotify, where The DA Hot 25 debuts weekly on our curator page.
