Great job Gaga. Way to phone it in. Remember when you were creative and groundbreaking? When you used to set trends, not follow them? So do we.
But this? It’s laughably bad. “The Cure” is trivial pop at its lowest form. Uninspired and flat-lined. There’s no life here. Even Mother Monster sounds like she’s gasping for breath choking out these lyrics. What team of songwriters and producers thought that this bland mixture of every dance pop trope was worth anyone’s time? Don’t we have enough of these cookie cutter tracks to keep ourselves fat and happy for the foreseeable future? Try something new for fuck’s sake.
Fans expected a triumphant return after that Super Bowl performance but 5 seconds in to Gaga’s first new single and it’s abundantly clear she phoned it in it. Then there’s those melodic house guitar plucks — thought we were listening to Kygo for a second.
