Coincidence? Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island are making a movie about a music festival that goes ‘horribly wrong’
In one of the most incredible meltdowns of recent cultural memory, the Fyre Festival saga played out across social media and the blogosphere for all to see. Within the span of just one weekend, the celebrity-backed, ultra luxury festival became a smoldering hot trash fire with everyone from Samantha Bee to Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson weighing in on the wreckage. The latest in the string of celebrity roasters is, apparently, Seth Rogen who revealed on Twitter that a Lonely Island movie with a suspiciously similar plot had been in the works for some time.
This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes HORRIBLY WRONG.

The Lonely Island–comedians Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer–quickly backed up Rogen’s tweet with one of their own.
For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea. https://t.co/uiLxhzLg85

Though neither group has commented officially on the status of the project, it’s safe to assume it will be equally hilarious as 2016’s deeply underrated Bieber mockery vehicle Never Stop Never Stopping. Considering the never ending meme stream stemming from #FyreFestival, the group is sure to have a virtually bottomless well of material to draw from; as they say, reality is often stranger than fiction.
