The clock is ticking for Zedd and Alessia Cara in their new music video for “Stay,” where one moment changes everything. Released yesterday via Interscope Records, the video features two alternate realities – one where Alessia slips out of Zedd’s reach and another where the pair spend a romantic day beachside only to end in tragedy. After the first verse, where Zedd is unable to stop a closing elevator door with Alessia inside, the pair hit rewind in a low-key motel and romance blossoms as they ride across Los Angeles in a retro drop top.

Spoiler alert: Just as viewers get ready to “ship” the two newfound lovers, a heart-wrenching plot twist leaves Zedd hit by a car and Alessia in tears. Moral of the “Stay” visual – one second could change it all, for better or for worse. Directed by seasoned filmmaker Tim Mattia, the video works like an Instagram Boomerang and puts a suspenseful slant on the sweet electro-pop song.

“Stay” currently sits at #4 on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits and #10 on the Global Top 200 chart.
