Floorplan provide a heavenly Essential Mix debut

Making their jaw-dropping Essential Mix debut this week, Detriot-based outfit Floorplan has taken it upon themselves to fashion a soul-two-hour groover of disco and house magic. Comprised of legendary techno kingpin Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, the father-daughter team’s sets are typically committed to an expressive blend of gospel-infused energy and four-on-the-floor rhythms. Their relative rise in the underground world comes as no surprise either; while Hood is no stranger to the house and techno scene due to his pioneering status in minimal techno, the familial addition of his daughter introduces a prolific flair of celestial, soulful performances.

Staying true to the core of their vitalized and heavenly sonic output, Floorplan take on this week’s Essential Mix spotlight with a powerful mix of pulsating and resonant house cuts. The team relishes in a collection of Floorplan’s accessible originals alongside featured pieces from fellow renowned artists such as Frankie Knuckles, Ron Bacardi, Ben Sims, and Gary Beck. The mix overall carries a celebratory feeling to it, before closing out with Lyric Hood’s very own invigorating mix of Floorplan’s “Never Grow Old.”
