LCD Soundsystem have two new songs coming today

In a lengthy, but characteristically charming Facebook post this morning, James Murphy announced two new singles off of LCD Soundsystem‘s highly-anticipated comeback LP. The band’s frontman took to his news feed this morning to reveal upcoming new selects, “Call The Police” and “American Dream,” are arriving tonight at midnight across the globe. The tracks are both freshly mixed and mastered and tonight the world will rejoice in the sweet, sweet sonic satisfaction of new LCD Soundsystem — the first, since 2015’s melancholic holiday track “Christmas Will Break Your Heart.” The tracks were initially debuted live at LCD’s recent five-night run at Brooklyn Steel. The releases come paired with the group’s performance on Saturday Night Live this weekend as well, presumably to hype the forthcoming studio record.

Mr. Murphy also updates fans on the album’s progress noting,

“As eager as folks have been for me to get this done, it’s got nothing on how much I want to be finished myself. It’s been one of the most enjoyable records to make in my life, if not the most fun ever (I think it is, for sure, the happiest I’ve ever been making a record.) So it will be sad in some ways to see it leave the house.”

The album, according to Murphy, is rounding third base, as the final vocals and mixes begin to draw near. The reason for the drawn-out wait is perhaps the most altruistic James Murphy thing that’s ever happened. He needs to make sure vinyl copies of the release are ready for shelves on release day. Fans will be able to purchase LCD’s triumphant comeback on the wax they deserve to hear it on.
