Major Lazer and Moska remix Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito”

Major Lazer have established a formidable reputation for dropping popular ‘riddims’ and high-profile remixes. The group has expertly tuned their sound over the year to make it appealing to a global audience.

The group has teamed up with Moska for their latest undertaking, an interesting remix of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s tremendously popular Latin dance single “Despacito.” The original has amassed over 1.2 billion views on YouTube alone, joining the growing list of videos to cross the 1 billion mark.

The remix features large sections derived from the original song, including the vocals and the guitar samples. The remix does, however, have the typical Major Lazer kick drum, adding a serious thump throughout. The main talking point, though, is the high-pitched bass drop.

The remix has thus far been somewhat polarizing among the group’s fans but Major Lazer’s take on “Despacito” is still likely to be a chartbuster.
