Meet FREQ, the nightclub that aims to fill Pacha NYC’s former five-story location
Prior to its closure in January 2016, Pacha NYC stood as one of New York’s pre-eminent nightlife fixtures. The five-story Hell’s Kitchen property also once housed the now-notorious Sound Factory. Now, it seems that Antonio Piacquado, co-owner of Space Ibiza New York, is pursuing the venue in hopes of opening a new nightclub.
DNA Info reports that Piacquado has filed an application with the city to turn the space into a new endeavor called “FREQ.” Reportedly, the application seeks to obtain a liquor license to serve until 4AM and aims to serve food as well, with proposed menu items such as “Disco Poutine,” a “Funky Chicken” sandwich, and a presumable signature dish, the “Freq Burger.”
This news comes on the heels of former Pacha NYC owner Eddie Dean’s establishment of a new six-acre venue on New York’s Governors Island, which will open this summer. Piacquado has yet to publicly confirm his intentions for the venue at press time.
