Vargas & Lagola – As Long As I Have To (Original Mix)
With prior writing credits scaling Madonna, Katy Perry and Avicii, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare’s recently unveiled Vargas & Lagola project came with some relatively big boots to fill for the Swedish hitmen. Just a week shy of their second offer “Dolores (The Awakening),” a Spanish-infused roll of instrumental prowess, the accomplished duo returns with a fresh vocal single primed at the Summer ahead.
For “As Long As I Have To,” Fakir and Pontare channel Miike Snow-esque alternative pop vibes whilst pushing the instrumental values towards the urban pop landscape. Said to have been mixed by none other than past collaborator Axwell, there’s a sense of the duo bringing their vision for electronic pop mastery significantly closer to the masses whilst maintaining the artistic air that has hallmarked the project since debut single “Rolling Stone.” What’s most reassuring is that, for an act consistently found behind the scenes of some of pop and dance music’s biggest moments, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare seem have found their own unique musical skin through Vargas & Lagola.
