Diplo explains why ‘Bank Roll’ was taken down, uploads new version with Rich Chigga

In May, Diplo made headlines when he crammed Justin Bieber, Young Thug, and Rich The Kid into “Bank Roll” – a single with enough star power to guarantee astronomical reach, but too many collaborators to realistically sound organized. In the following days, the Mad Decent label-head remained in the spotlight when the song was abruptly removed from SoundCloud.

Today, June 7, Diplo shared a new version of the track, replacing Justin Bieber with the ever-mischievous, ever-viral Indonesian rapper Rich Chigga. In the new upload, Diplo explained the song’s sudden disappearance:

“other artists made soundcloud take down the Justin Beiber [sic] version because they had exclusives with him, you can find it online here tho cause ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

It’s unclear which artists demanded that SoundCloud remove the Justin Bieber version of the song, but, as a silver lining for those who were disappointed by its takedown, Diplo hyperlinked to a free download of the track. As for the new iteration of “Bank Roll,” though the mighty Rich Chigga is unable to save the song from it’s core issue of cluttering, his goofy baritone flow is a welcome addition.
