A-Trak announces new DJ contest, to be judged by Diplo, Destructo and more
Today, June 6, A-Trak, announced the first-ever Goldie Awards, a DJ and beat-making competition designed to reflect the boundless nature of today’s music. Having won a recording-breaking five world DJ Championships, A-Trak acutely recognizes the immense growth of interest within the realm of music production and DJing. Through the Goldie Awards, A-Trak introduces a modern variation to the competitions that helped cut his teeth as a teenager:
“Nowadays DJs and producers are bigger than ever. But there’s no championship that celebrates how important and relevant they’ve become. That’s why I created Goldie Awards: a DJ and beat battle adapted to what these art forms represent today.”
Applicants can now forward their submissions online via Instagram and Youtube, using the hashtag #GOLDIEAWARDS in order to be considered for the competition. Following the social media-driven preliminaries, six DJs and six producers will be selected to face-off at the Goldie Awards on September 7 at Brooklyn Steel, NYC, hosted by Dave East. Contestants will then be evaluated on their creativity and technical skill by a panel of leading DJ’s such as Diplo, Just Blaze, Destructo and others.
Prizes include a DJ slot at Fool’s Gold Day off and an official release on Fool’s Gold Records.
Tickets for the Goldie Awards will be available on Friday, June 9.
