The xx cancel Night + Day Festival in Iceland

The xx‘s three day festival in Iceland has been canceled due to environmental concerns surrounding the proposed location of the event. Due to take place from July 14-16 near Skógafoss waterfall, the Night + Day’s lineup was to include Sampha, Earl Sweatshirt, Robyn, Jagwar Ma and more. After the waterfall was placed on the Environmental Agency of Iceland’s list of endangered areas, The Reykjavík Grapevine published a statement issued by the festival.

It reads:

“We regret to announce that Night + Day Iceland will not be going ahead. The location for the festival at Skógafoss has recently been added to the Environment Agency of Iceland’s list of endangered areas and there is simply not enough time for the promoters to ensure that the event will have no impact at all on the site. The promoters have been working non-stop to secure another location but regrettably there is nowhere suitable that can host the festival with such short notice.”

The statement adds that ticket holders will be granted a refund within five working days. While The xx has not offered a statement via social media, their official website no longer contains information pertaining to the event.
