Martin Garrix debuts new deep house alias at Tomorrowland [VIDEO]
Some DJs debut new IDs; others, new aliases. Martin Garrix unveiled the latter on Saturday at Tomorrowland’s STMPD Records showcase, taking the decks not under the name tied to the smash success of hits like “Animals” and “Scared to Be Lonely,” but rather under a different moniker, “Ytram.”
Ytramm — “Marty” spelled backwards — emerges as Garrix’s third alias. Garrix’s other side project, AREA21, garnered attention in 2016 when Garrix and fellow AREA21 constituent, American rapper Maejor, wrote and recorded “Spaceships.” Garrix later worked the track into his headlining Ultra Music Festival set at Bayfront Park, Miami.

Whereas AREA21 denotes more of a hip hop focus for Garrix, Ytram is distinctly house oriented, leading Garrix to deliver a stunning Tomorrowland set rife with house music staples. A snippet of the set appears above, complete with a shot of Ytram’s visual identifier, a white mask — seeing as nothing says “alias” quite like a head accessory.
