The Radar 93: Mixed by Layton Giordani
Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label has become synonymous with world-class techno. As such, a nod of approval from the behemoth underground imprint is a sure-fire mark of talent on the rise.
Enter Layton Giordani, a young New York-born producer who, in February of 2017, delivered his debut album Where It Begins for the imprint. Bringing 12 original tracks into the fray, the album showcased a sophistication well beyond Layton’s years, earning Giordani acclaim across the underground, as well as setting him up for a recent nomination for ‘Breakthrough DJ’ at the DJ Awards.
Now Layton steps up to the plate for Dancing Astronaut’s Radar series, delivering an hour-long mix of pummeling techno. The selection spans countless unreleased cuts, many of which are the kind of brash, unforgiving techno which both Drumcode and Giordani have built their namesakes on. It’s a potent offering, and an apt showcase of Giordani’s mixing abilities.
