Welcome to Parookaville, Germany’s largest dance music paradise
Enter Germany‘s Parookaville and embrace the full embodiment of the festival experience. As the suffix “ville” implies, the three-day festival is more accurately described as a city that’s annually brought to life by its over 80,000 guests.
While Parookaville is in its infancy (this is its third installation), the gigantic festival has grown from a two day event into a three day experience. Held at Weeze Airport in the Lower Rhine region, vast airport hangars and airfields are transformed into gargantuan stages which showcase the best of the best in electronic music.
For its 2017 installation, Parookaville boasts headliners including DJ Snake, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Robin Schulz, Sven Väth, Tiësto, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Marshmello. Check out the entire lineup below.
The majority of Parookaville’s 2017 headliners will populate the festival’s nearly 400-foot-wide main stage. Co-organizer Georg von Wickeren comments on the main stage design, saying,
“Over the last six months we have moved around 30,000 tons of gravel and sand and also 30,000 tons of topsoil to grass an area of four football fields. A gigantic effort, but it was definitively worth it for the new main stage experience for our citizens.”
Near the main stage is Parookaville’s Desert Valley fun fair, complete with a jump tower, a water slide, bumper cars and a roller coaster. Within Desert Valley is a showcase of Parookaville’s newest partnership with Telekom, a 360° live stream of the festival via the company’s newest music endeavor MagentaMusik360. For the first time, sets from the main stage and from Bill’s Factory will be streamed exclusively for free online. The festival will also be broadcasted live via’ Germany’s 1LIVE radio station.
On Parookaville’s nine additional stages, over 200 artists from all branches of the electronic genre including Yellow Claw, Valentino Khan, Alison Wonderland, Slushii, Getter, Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo, DVBBS, Martin Solveig and much more will showcase their talent.
But perhaps the most exciting acts of the weekend are the three finalists of the PENNY x PAROOKAVILLE x Spinnin’ Records DJ contest. On July 20th, the winner was crowned in front of a thousands-strong audience and a panel of jurors at the PENNY DJ Tower in the campsites.
Exciting events are around every turn in the city of Parookaville. Citizens are bound together by the festival’s official anthem, courtesy of Germany’s own DJ Moguai and Younotus, to be celebrated at the official anthem ceremony on Friday night. Additionally, PLUR couples can tie the knot at Warsteiner Parooka Church located next to the festival’s pool.
Footage from the 2016 edition of Parookaville below makes it clear why the festival won both Germany’s Live Entertainment Award for “Festival of the Year” and the Helga! Award for the “Best Festival National.” Back in 2015, it was was nominated for “Best Newcomer Festival” at the European Festival Awards.
