Patrick Baker covers RY X’s ‘Only’
Multi-talented singer/musician Patrick Baker takes an indie-electro approach to RY X‘s “Only,” accompanied by a new live instrumental video. The DC-by-way-of-Nashville artist carves out a distinct niche for his downtempo electronic sound and its acoustic, stripped down twang.
While maintaining the indie feel of the original, Baker adds a quicker tempo and blissful synths to his new cover. “Only” is out on Armada Chill, and marks a lengthy history between Baker and the Amsterdam-based label. The artist has released singles including “Fire,” “Nothing To Prove” and the recent “Call Me Up” on the label.
Baker’s voice, reminiscent of an early Bon Iver, has appeared on tracks by Giraffage & Viceroy, Autograf, Lane 8 and more. His new cover has been picked up to be broadcasted on Sirius XM, showing the global reach of his distinguishable sound.
